Probe College Tour kicks off in Southeast Georgia

(Atlanta, GA) The popular Probe College Tour kicks off in southeast Georgia on September 13. Representatives from colleges and universities will be on hand to meet with local students face-to-face.

“After a year hosting virtual events, having the option to meet in person safely is welcomed,” says Clint Hobbs, Probe Executive Director. “As we launch the tour, our fair volunteers and the Probe team continue to rely on local health experts from each host community for guidance.”
The schedule includes:

  • September 13 | Vidalia Probe Fair | Vidalia High School | 1:30 – 3:00 PM
  • September 14 | Statesboro Probe Fair | Georgia Southern University | 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
  • September 15 | Effingham County Probe Fair | Effingham County High School | 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
  • September 15 | South Effingham Probe Fair | South Effingham High School | 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM
  • September 16 | Savannah Probe Fair | Savannah State University |10:15 AM – 1:00 PM

Students must pre-register for their local fair

While the Probe tour continues to be free, all students must pre-register to attend their local fair. This step gives each registrant a unique QR code that they can share with colleges to be added to their mailing lists.

This requirement allows the fairs to be “touchless” for students to request information from colleges of interest.

This list of participating colleges and universities varies at each fair and ranges from small colleges to large universities. Colleges scheduled to attend southeast Georgia fairs include, but are not limited to:

  • Augusta University
  • Georgia Southern University
  • Penn State
  • The University of Alabama
  • Savannah State University
  • Savannah Technical College
  • Tuskegee University

A full list of college exhibitors scheduled to attend is available at RegisterProbe.com.

“College isn’t a one size fits all type of thing,” says Hobbs. “Meeting with as many representatives as possible will help a student find the best place for them, and we are happy that Probe offers that opportunity.” He continues to say, “Fairs help students narrow down their choices and better plan for on-campus visits.”

A virtual fair option is available in October

For students who don’t have a local fair option or would prefer to connect with colleges online, Probe is offering a virtual fair on October 13, 2021, from 5 PM to 8 PM. Registration for the virtual fair will open in mid-September.

Anyone interested in attending should also follow the Probe tour on social media to be notified of any schedule adjustments or participation requirements.

Probe College Fairs Back for In-Person Events

August 25, 2021 | Atlanta, GA

The highly anticipated Probe College Tour is back starting this fall with opportunities for Georgia students. Representatives from colleges and universities are eager to meet high schoolers.

With 68 free fairs planned across the state, Probe once again lives up to its commitment of being a leader in offering exposure to secondary education opportunities. This year’s face-to-face fairs will allow unparalleled connections for students and college representatives.

“We are so excited to be back in person again after a year hosting virtual fairs,” says Clint Hobbs, Probe Executive Director. “We remain committed to offering safe events and recognize a face-to-face approach has unique benefits for participants.”

To mitigate concerns regarding COVID, fair organizers are implementing several safety features for the 2021-22 tour.

  • All students will need to pre-register on the Probe website to get their unique QR code. Through a touchless experience, students can share their information to get on college mailing lists.
  • Organizers will adjust to adopt health and safety recommendations.
  • Mitigation efforts may include but are not limited to recommended masking, social distancing, and capacity management.

In addition, for all involved, flexibility will be a crucial component. Probe officials recognize some fairs may need to adjust their dates or other plans based on the guidance of health experts. A virtual fair option will also be available.

“We know we can’t ignore the current health crisis,” says Hobbs. “But we recognize Probe fairs are essential for connecting Georgia high school students to post-secondary options.”

According to Hobbs, Probe remains one of the top ways for representatives to connect with Georgia high school students and their families. For some institutions, as much as 20 percent of their fall enrollment is sourced from in-person fairs.

Fairs are also a great way to introduce students to colleges of various sizes. Often, a small or mid-sized school may be the best fit for a student, and Hobbs notes that Probe is where students often discover and connect with colleges they are not familiar with.

“Probe offers a great first step in the college selection process,” says Hobbs. “Getting information from a variety of colleges and universities will help students plan for an on-campus visit to their top choice or choices.”

Fair dates and locations are listed on the Probe website at www.gaprobe.org or by visiting RegisterProbe.com.

Probe Announces Return to In-Person Fairs

The Fall 2021 Tour kicks off on September 13

May 20, 2021 Young Harris, Ga

The Georgia Education Articulation Committee announced today that the Probe tour will return to in-person fairs this fall. The Tour kicks off Monday, September 13, 2021, and will continue until November 19, 2021, and consists of over 65 fairs and three high school guidance counselor workshops.

“We are pleased to return to in-person fairs this fall,” said Clint Hobbs, executive director. “We will be following all COVID-related guidance from the CDC, and our local hosts, as the country emerges from the pandemic,” Hobbs continued.

The annual fall tour covers the Greater Metro Atlanta Area, North, Middle, and South Georgia regions with morning, afternoon, and evening fairs.

Georgia high school students and their families can connect directly with college representatives, ask questions, and get added to college recruitment lists.

Colleges will be using a touchless process by requiring students to pre-register to obtain a barcode for scanning. Using mobile devices, college representatives can scan either a digital or printed barcode to add students to their recruitment list.

High school guidance counselors are invited to attend one of three workshops to get the latest information on college admissions and financial aid. Counselor workshops will be held at the Infinite Energy Center in Duluth, GA, Middle Georgia State University in Macon, and Savannah State University in Savannah.

Registration for colleges to attend this fall’s Tour will begin in mid-July. Student registration will launch in mid-August.

Probe will not be offering a virtual fair option; however, the board is considering virtual presentations on relevant topics. “We are considering online presentations on general college admission and financial aid topics to extend our reach to Georgia families,” said Hobbs.
